The enemy is subtle.
He doesn’t always tempt with obvious evil.
He dresses chains as freedom.
It starts quietly.
A desire to “find yourself.”
To “live your truth.”
To finally feel free.
And it feels right at first.
Exciting. Empowering. New.
But it is a bondage disguised as “finding yourself.”
“You will be like God…” -- Genesis 3:5
The oldest lie.
Still whispered today.
The world is obsessed with finding yourself…
when God calls you to lose yourself in love and service.
It tells you to “manifest your reality”…
when every good thing flows from Christ alone.
It says “follow your heart”…
even the Bible says
"The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately corrupt" -- Jeremiah 17:9
It says “define your own truth”…
when Truth is a Person.
It says “put yourself first”…
when Christ shows us the cross.
Notice slowly, quietly…
it places you at the center.
Not directly.
Not loudly.
But subtly… it is trying to make you God.
That’s the deception.
That’s the chain.
Because real freedom isn’t found in self-discovery.
It’s found in surrender.
In becoming who God already made you to be.
And yes…
It means trusting when you don’t understand.
It means letting God lead instead of taking control.
But that’s where peace is.
That’s where truth is.
That’s where freedom lives.
“If the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed.” -- John 8:36
So may we choose truth over illusion.
May we choose surrender over self-exaltation.
May we choose the freedom that actually sets us free.
